Hi everyone! Welcome I was just wondering what your opinions are on purchasing perfume in a set vs. individually. Do you prefer to buy perfume only? Or do you like buying a gift set that includes the perfume's matching shower gel and/or lotion? I have heard mixed reviews about these. Some say the lotion is not very moisturizing and can even have a different smell than the perfume, so they say do not bother buying the extras, instead stick to just the perfume. Others say it is a good deal to just get the set.

What are your thoughts on gift sets vs. single perfume purchases?

I like to purchase single perfumes b/c I think the perfume scents are too strong in lotion or shower gel form. For instance, someone got me an RL Hot set during the 2006 holiday season. I ended up using the shower gel, but it was way too strong. Crap

But I would reccomend buying the giftsets for VS perfumes. They go on sale for 50% off during the Semi-Annual Sales & the giftsets end up being cheaper than the actual perfume of the same size. Yes

I never end up using the lotions or shower gels in the gift sets, so I never purchase them, except for when the price of a gift set is lower than the fragrance itself. Of course then it's not a hard decision to make.Big Grin You can always use the extra stuff to give away as gifts, too.Smiler

I agree with Megan and Fryl. I always just buy the single perfume, unless its a better value to get the set. I know around the holidays its normally cheaper for the sets. I have bought them a few times and the extras just never get used. For me, the scent is normally off and the lotions are watery.
Like Fryl said though you can use the extras as gifts. Smiler
