Well, my question is: When does menstruation usually resume after only one month on a low-dose birth control pill?

I took a low dose birth control pill (Ortho Tricyclen Lo) during the month of December, then stopped taking it after I completed one entire packet of pills. Up to that point, I had never taken ANY form of hormonal birth control in my entire life, and I have not taken any more pills since completing that packet. Before taking the pill, I had a fairly normal menstrual cycle.

So my question is... Is there anyone out there who also took a low-dose pill for only a month? If so, then when did you have a regular period? I've heard that it an take 1-3 months for normal menstruation to resume, but I assumed that that would be for women on the pill for a long time. I've also heard that some women menstruate sooner than expected after stopping a low-dose pill.

So.... anyone else out there ever been in a similar situation? I know every woman is different, but I'd like to know how long it took others to get their period after being on a low-dose pill, especially if you were only on it for a short time. Thanks in advance.

Wendy, I didn't have any issues returning to normal when I stopped BCP. I did take it for a couple of yrs. though, so my situation isn't exactly comparable to yours. My advice is that if your period hasn't shown up by now, it might be best to address your concerns w/ your gyno.

Mine came back right away - only 3 days late from when it usually would appear with the pill. I was on the pill for 8 years though.

If your period is 3 months late, you should visit the doctor's office.

Thanks for the input, ladies. I've been spotting moderately since last week, so I think that's a good sign. I'm planning on seeing a doctor again soon hopefully.

I'm sure many people out there had success with the Pill, but I found it to be more of a pain than anything else. Banghead
