I have been thinking of joining weight watchers for some time now. Does anyone know if Weight Watchers Online has worked? It is cheaper than attending meetings for me and I would rather do it this way if it really does work. I have gone to Weight Watchers meetings..but find that weighing in every week is the core of the meetings & many do not even stay for the meetings. If anyone has tried it online...can you post a reply...Thanks! Wave

I do Weight Watchers exclusively online along with my husband. He has lost 110 pounds and I've lost 118 pounds. I had a friend already on it when I joined and that really helped me to get started and to explain everything to me. The website is very easy to understand though and walks you through how the plan works. I think the cost is much less also. I think it's $29.99 joining fee and $14.95 a month. Good luck!

I am still loving Weight Watchers. I have only lost about 7 pounds, but I still think this is the most sensible weight loss program I have ever tried!!!! Anyone still on the fence post about joining should just give it a shot!

Thank you tn21angel!!

Did I mention that I usually have a small bowl of ice cream 3- 4 nights a week. Blue Bell which I know not all parts of the country carry it, has an ice cream that is low fat with no sugar added and it tastes wonderful Love
I am sure there are other brands that have something similiar. It has about 100-130 calories for half cup (depending on flavor you get) and 20-30 fat calories.

Silhoette (? sp) carries a line of ice cream sandwiches called the Skinny Cow. They are 2 points each and taste fabulous! They have vanilla, chocolate, and mint. The Weight Watchers brand is also very good.

I have seen that in the store and just haven't purchased it yet. I bet I make it a point to next time I buy ice cream. My husband just doesn't get it sometimes. The Schwann man came by the other night and he got carmel pecan, or something like that, from him. Of course it was not low cal OR low fat. I have not seen Weight Watchers ice cream here. At one of our meetings someone brought up the subject and said alot of stores in this area are not going to carry it anymore. Crap

Congratulations on joining! I think you'll really like the program. I'm down by 90.6 pounds--my goal is to lose 100. But I am below my "Weight Watchers" goal; in fact, I hope to become a Life-Time member at tomorrow's meeting!

Since you're not used to breakfast, you could start slow and easy. Like a banana for 2 points or a Nutri-Grain bar for 3 points. For myself, I like to start the day with a chocolate Slim-Fast shake made with skim milk for 3 points. Fat Free yogurt is a nice 2-point option. And you can find many high fiber cereals that are only 1 point per serving, which you could have with skim milk. There are also a lot of light breads out there that are 1 point for two slices, so you could have toast with a little jelly or even a tablespoon of reduced fat peanut butter.

Hopefully, you will find there are MANY options on this plan and in time, you'll find your favorites. I wish you much success with the program!

yea for you Ronnie!!!!

I was not a breakfast eater, but I usually have a banana. If I am off for the day I will have a bowl of cereal w/ fat free milk (most of the time a bran cereal, or oatmeal). What saved me when I first started was eating baby carrots (10 for 0 points). At first I was afraid I would use all my points early in the day. I usually ended up with 10-14 points for my
evening meal and snack. I even eat low fat no sugar added ice cream at night for a snack if I want to. one half cup is 3 points. 5 crackers of melba toast is 1 point. I use the spray "can't believe it's not butter".
Good luck! I know you will do great!!!!!

Let me know how you like doing it online. I go to the meetings, but to make it more convenient I am thinking to switching to online when my dues are up again!
Ronnie something that has worked for me at mealtime is to have lots of vegetables and just a little meat/chicken/fish. instead of the other way around. I now try to make really big salads and a couple of vegetables with only 1 serving of meat...for example I used to eat 2 pork chops if I felt like it. Now 1 is plenty and sometimes too much. I also have grapes to snack because they are sweet and cut my candy craving (1 cup - 1 point).
Good luck and keep us posted. I have lost 8 pounds. Not alot but it is a start and I don't feel deprived and I am NOT hungry. Plus I eat healthier than I ever have!

Congrats to all of you! Clap

Weight Watchers now has muffins and cakes that I found in the bakery section of Wal-Mart. The muffins are very large for 3 points. I think they have blueberry and apple spice - both are delicious. They also have carrot cake for 1 point but it is very small.

My total is now 123# lost!!! Only 12 more pounds to go! Thumbsup

I guess this is kinda two fold...Anyone still doing WW? I'm in a slump, and need some motivation or something. I've been in a 3-4 pound range for the past several months. I can exercise my tail off all week and will only lose 1 pound if that. Been doing this since 10-07, and early on the pounds came off fast. I'm so very frustrated. Since I work in healthcare, everyone fears I have a gallbladder issue due to some problems I've been having. Anyone experience this especially after weight loss? Thanks much.

Hi Redhead,

I have several friends who are on Weight Watchers and they have not had any problems.

However, a few of them are on Jenny Craig and Nutri Systems, where you have to buy the food. Now, they HAVE developed gall bladder problems and had to have surgery.

I am not sure if you have to buy food from Weight Watchers or if they just have a plan.

My own problem is different because I need to GAIN like 15 pounds.

I am accepting any and all donations if anyone has any weight they can spare.

If you are indeed eating Weight Watcher's own food you might check it out however just to make sure there is nothing in it that would cause gall bladder problems.

Diet soda and artificial sweetners also make people gain weight because Nutrasweet makes you hungry as does Splenda.

Food manufacturers are now adding high fructose to meat!!! Apparently this makes meat brown easier when it's grilled.

Soy is another problem. A lot of people are allergic to soy and it causes bloating and other GI problems. There are now warnings on food labels similar to those for peanuts..may contain soy. You might check that out.

I understand most people would like to lose a few pounds. Dunno why because in the 1950s the average movie star weighed 150..like Marilyn Monroe.

Womens' metabolism is different also.

It's most important to check food additives.

Also medications like Zocor to reduce cholesterol and antibiotics like Cipro can cause extreme GI and gall bladder problems.

Might be better to have a glass of water before eating and then a small salad so you will feel full.

Hope I've been helpful. I was a nurse before suffering a severe stroke on 2007..but it was caused by a heart problem rather than diet.

Thanks Jeff for the great info.! I do buy some snack items from them, but that's basically it. I try to eat mainly fruits, veggies and lean meats. I have heard others who have said they have had gb problems as a result from weight loss. I had an abdominal ultrasound, which was negative. Next week, I am scheduled for a HIDA Scan. I'll gladly contribute 15 pounds! Then, I will have exceeded my goal.
I hope your prognosis is good. Some of my clients have suffered from strokes, but none have severe immobility/paralysis.
Again, thanks for the thorough response! It's always good to know a nurse. Clap
