Well, I know a lot of you guys are into Starbucks and coffee afficianados.
Wink

Have any of you guys tried new 'new wave' of energy drinks like 'Monster' and several others from the major soft drink manufacturers?

I was introduced to 'Monster' by a female co-worker at the care center.
Love

If anything will snap your eyes open, make you run up and down the halls like a gerbil and keep you awake for a 'double' shift...Monster takes the cake.

I will have to ask around to see if beverages of this nature are a 'guy thing' or what? They do contain ginseng, L carnatine (a fat burner) and other ingredients like taurine.

The Monster can's design in reminscent of Axe or Tag and it says " Unleash the beast" on the back. Dunno if any of you all have an 'inner beast'. I went to www monster energy dot com to check it out. There is even a 'low carb' Monster.

I see a lot of stuff like this appearing on the shelves at grocery stores along with a new version of 'Tab' as an energy drink. The Tab container is 'pink'.

Have noticed women drinking 'Vitamin Water' and I know young people mix Red Bull with Jaegermeister at parties.

Any experiences with these kind of beverages, ladies and gents?

Ha! Energy drinks are my life!

The only ones I like are sugar - free red bull- I swear, these make me keep going when I think I have just had enough..

Tab-10 calories, and I love it! lately, I drink 2 a day..

My husband drink Stacker Water? Like Satcker diet pills..ICK-Its so gross-tastes like your drinking vitamins..

So mine are the "calorie" restricted knd 'cuz of weight watchers..and of course-you can't go wrong with diet coke!

I've only tried Red Bull when I was out w/ a guy. And I must say that it tasted awful. Crap I think it reminded me of medicine. I don't even know what that taurine stuff they put in there is. Also, Red Bull is often combined w/ vodka. Another guy that I dated made that combination one time when he had to stay up all night studying. However, I don't think these energy drinks are my thing. Give me some Cherry Coke & I'm good. Love

I remember a book that I had to read for contemporary European history mentioned that Red Bull did get its start over in Europe. But the terminology it used for the Red Bull & vodka combo was Vodka Bull.

To me, Red Bull tastes like a liquid Starburst candy. Waaaay too sweet, generic fruity flavor. I never got past the second sip, so I can't account for its energizing powers.
I'll stick with good old fashioned coffee.

Ciao!

Red Bull comes from Austria, they probably invented it so they could go on and on apres ski!
Thumbsup
They use a flavoured vodka type for flugels. It's a brand and it comes in a cute and tiny bottle with a duck on it.

Energy drinks like Monster, etc., have an odd taste. Sort of unexplainable. I believe the new Coke with coffee has some energizing ingredients. But it also has artificial sweetener which tastes awful. I do know that 'diet' soft drinks and sugarless gum stimulate the appetite and actually make you hungry.

Did some reseach on L Taurine and L Carnitine.
The former originally came from 'ox bile.' Now both of these 'amino acids' are obtained from red meat, eggs, etc. L Carnitine is an 'escort service' for fat and causes the body to metabolize it.

L Taurine is added to most cat food as it is beneficial to their urinary system and prevents cats from having problems in that area. Taurine is also an ingredient in almost all of the 'energy' drinks. Even the new Mountain Dew one. Taurine is supposed to give you a 'boost'.

The articles I read also indicated a lot of amino acids are lacking in 'vegans' and vegetarians since they eat no red meat, eggs or poultry. That could explain why they look so anemic. Medical research also revealed childrens' bodies cannot produce these necessary amino acids.

This is very interesting information considering the sudden over abundance of 'energy drinks' which have gained such popularity for energy, weight loss and endurance rather than as a mixer for alcoholic beverages.

I will have to do further 'research' and ask some ladies if they drink 'em.

The women I know mainly drink 'girl drinks' such as Cosmopolitans and wine. The 'hard core' tarts drink scotch straight up and 'boozers' put vodka in water bottles..but they aren't fooling anyone. You can still smell it.

I don't do alcohol so I have to ask questions. I only know what guys drink.

I have tried a few and each time that I did, my heart started racing and I was very jittery! Errr

Now this is happening to a person who has had 3 pots of coffee in one day and it didn't even bother me. I can drink coffee until I go to bed and have no trouble falling asleep, but if I drink a pop before I go to bed, forget it! I am up for hours. Eeker I don't know why? idunno

My BF likes Red Bull so I take a few sips but I personally don't like it. It's too sweet and it doesn't taste good. Plus it doesn't do much for me. I'm better off eating ice cream or drinking pop if I wanted to be energized Big Grin

I've never tried Red Bull before. The new 'pink' Tab has tempted me several times at the convenience store, but I never buy it. $1.99 seems pretty steep for such a tiny drink, but maybe I'll give it a try sometime. Look at me, I'll pay $10 for a bottle of lotion but not $2 for a drink. Coffee

I like Full Throttle the best. To me it tastes like Smirnoff Ice minus the alcohol. Guess that's why I like it.

I hate Red Bull b/c it's nasty. Full Throttle is a really yummy energy drink, but that much caffiene at once gets me all wound up, but not in the good alert way. It's more like an extreme jittery case where my heart starts pounding and I'm a little scared for my life.

A lot of coffee does the same thing to me, but soda never does.

Red Bull has a sort of strawberry-like taste to it. It is really sweet. I've also been turned on to a drink called redline. it's supposed to burn fat, but man, it gives you tons of energy. the guy at gnc said it's really addictive and kind of dangerous so i've since not had one. it tastes similar to a red bull.

Edward, you have a good point there about energy drinks being 'addictive'. I hope that's not the case with Monster.

They say on TV that Tylenol PM is non habit forming. Yeah, right. I have to take one every night or I don't sleep. Perhaps they should rephrase it to 'medically dependent.'
Rotflol

I mean it's just tylenol with benadryl but still is a 'necessity.' I have 'access' to all kinds of 'sleepers' but am scared sh*tless of Ambien and others because I see how 'whacked' they make my patients.

I have to have a cup of coffee when I get off work to 'wake up' so I can go to sleep. I know this sounds crazy.

The only negative effect I have experienced so far from energy drinks is increased heart rate. Most likely due to the ginseng.

Ginseng is allegedly an aphrodesiac. I don't think so. Shopping is so much better.

How true Jeff! Yes

My H jokes and says that if he could see me get as excited when I see him, as much as I get when I buy a bottle of lotion, he would be a very lucky man! rofl
