I have been thinking about joining JC and I was wondering if anyone has tried this diet before. I have never tried a diet where you eat their food, but thinking that it would be easier than Weight Watchers. Its kinda expensive...they say $11 to $15 a day on food. That actress Kirstie A???? (forgot her last name) has done so well on it!

It's Kirstie Alley. She has done very well, but also keep in mind that she probably has a personal trainer too.

I have done Jenny Craig. It gets VERY expensive!! I was spending $90 plus a week on food. Too much money for what you get out of it.

Some of the food is great, some suck. I was going to a centre where the girl could barely get my measurements right and the young girl who weighed me weekly and "counseled" me was just a waste of my time. She had no clue. And soon I would just go in and weigh, buy food and leave.

So if you are one who needs the extra push, the counseling, then I would be very choosey about which centre you go to. I'm sure some have more competent employees then others.

I was on the program for only a few months and did indeed lose weight. It got to be too expensive and ridiculous for me however. At one point I started forgoing some of their main meals in lieu of Lean Cuisines. LC was cheaper (especially cuz they are so often on sale at the grocery store), tasted better and some even lower in calories. I would still buy my breakfast foods and snacks thru Jenny and go for my weekly weigh ins. This cut cost by SOOOOOO much!!!

What they don't tell you is you can buy as little or as much of the food as you want. If you incorporate their food with outside food and just BE SURE to count calories (1200 daily is a good round number for losing weight)you will succeed.

Really for me, just the structured eating plan for the few months was all I needed. It lit the fire under my a@@ and soon after I was able to do it all on my own. Jenny or not - you've just got to have the willpower to not eat the cr@p. Plain and simple.

Good luck!

I don't know gals are always going on diets. Cry
Back in the 50s, stars like Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe epitomized females and were quite beautiful IN their clothing...compared to the skinny 'Annas' (anorexics) in movies today.
They left something to the 'imagination' Eyebrow
Whenever I go to the mall and see 'Annas' I feel like screaming, "Eat something, please." When I was a store manager I put 2 young ladies on 'chair rest' during break and made them drink Ensure..one of them was 80 pounds. Geez.
Recall when Nutri Systems came out in the 80s (I think), 2 ladies in my office had to have gall bladder surgery and subsequently died as a result of eating the packaged food. Think there was litigation against Jenny Craig cuz she stole ideas from Nutri Systems. Sampled the food once and it reminded me of packaged cat food. Sick
Those diet systems rarely work. Kirstey Alley is a very pretty lady. And they are expensive.
A lot of guys prefer 'healthy' ladies...who wear red lipstick.

LOL Jeff... Rotflol Wish all men would think your way...Anyway after reading your post & lovebbw's post, I think Jenny Craig is not for me..not only is it too expensive for my budget but what you said about co-workers needing surgery after eating this type of food scares me. I have heard other people needing gall bladder surgery too after eating this type of food.
I like the suggestion of incorporating healthy meals with thier food though. I wonder if they try to talk you out of that though. I think I will go on their website and ask in their chat with other members area. Anyhow...thanks for the insight!

I didn't try JC but I did go on LA Weight Loss for about 6 months or so. I lost more inches than pounds, but I'm a VERY picky eater and eating Chicken two times a day EVERY DAY got old quite fast. LA Weight Loss gets in your pocket book, too, they expected me to pay 7.00 a week, which was OK but they expected me to pay one year in advance and i had to cough up 150.00 to get started and the rest was due in under 30 days. The first three days of the diet all I could eat was some meat and vegetables, no fats no carbs at all, it was like a detox thing and I about lost my mind and quit but didn't want to lose all the money I invested...now I know why I had to pay up front! I lost 5 pounds in the first week....

They give you a broad range of food to choose from, but like I said I'm a picky eater so the list was quite slim. If you like a lot of meats and bland foods then this diet is for you! They also had me eat these chocolate slimfast type bars, they were the only sweets allowed and they were like 100.00 for a months supply, plus they wanted you to take all these vitamins and pill supplements and those ran an extra 75.00-100.00 a month so it got really pricey. I had to stop in and get weighed in 3 times a week and had to keep a food diary which I really sucked at, I hate to keep track of anything and they do ask really personal stuff like your last bowel movements and when your periods are. I did OK but after a few months I went on a road trip adventure to Kansas for a wedding and never got back on the wagon after that. I did lose 19 pounds and 31 inches but I got to be so crabby from starving all the time it just wasn't worth it. I'd really like to try weight watchers sometime.....

I know from others who have tried diets with package food, and once they went off the diet they gained their weight loss back plus some. Besides too much money spent, and it doesnt teach you how to eat in the long run.

Gotta luv Kirsty Alley. There is something about the way she says CAKE and FETTUCCINI. Rotflol
Also think she's rather attractive.
Poor 'annas'. They have to tie knots in their pantyhose so people will know they have knees.
Please EAT SOMETHING!!!
