I also agree on the 70% statistic. I am kinda baffled by that number. Not just because I dont like florals, but not alot of people I know or see at BBW are snatching them up either. insane

I've never really cared for BBW's florals either. I like Wild Honeysuckle, Violet Bouquet (disc. though), and Enchanted Orchid, but otherwise I find them wayyy too strong and headache-inducing.

BBW is always sending out seemingly outlandish claims like that. There's also the golden rule that "70% of people that receive a demo will make a purchase" I can attest that demoing furiously will not affect whether or not a person will buy and a poorly executed demo can drive people away.

I think the company just says stuff like that so that we're able to motivate associates with numbers and proof so it makes selling things easier. If someone believes most people prefer a floral it'll make selling the floral easier - same with demos.

After working for the company for so long I've realized a lot of what they do is based on numbers and "research" but very infrequently are truly practical.

As for the new Enchanted Orchid I think it's probably about a 40:60 ratio of liking it to disliking it. Our store is in a $2 test for the trials (so the minis are $2 for our customers instead of the $1 at most stores) and VERY few people are plunking down the two bucks for one.

I think that 70% seems a little high, but I also think about it this way:
What are the biggest seasons for average people to shop at BBW? Christmas and Mother's Day.

Mother's Day is in the spring, and florals are all the rage. They're heavily promoted, and husbands and kids buying for the mothers in their lives want to get them something that smells nice, so they get Sweet Pea, Cherry Blossom, or something like that.

Around six months later, it's Christmas time, and maybe Mom is out of the splash that she got for Mother's Day. So, whoever is buying for the lady thinks, "Well, she really liked Sweet Pea, so I'll get her that again!" Problem solved, gift complete.

Maybe it's not so outlandish that BBW percieves most of their customers as loving florals. After all, we, the conisseurs of body products, are not the average customer.

Love from Becky

I like some, not all of the florals. For example, the cherry blossom scents: I find JCB way too strong for me/don't carry for cherry blossom fragrance/yet I love the white cherry blossom fragance which is being discontinued. I like fruity scents as well as the florals. I like Mandarin Orange and the irresistible apple.

I like mainly the scents be it floral or fruit that are subtle and not overly strong. But it's different for each of us so what is considered strong, etc. is a matter of opinion?

Fryl, I saw a lot of them and the other scents at the past SAS. They were all marked down to $2.00. I think they have been discontinued but check your stores if they still have some of the clearance stuff out on the floor

I was looking online this evening and noticed Sparkling Peach was put in the fond farewell section. I dont remember reading here that it was being discontinued. I know that it doesnt always mean its being discontinued, but that cant be a good sign. I know several people here love that scent, so I thought I would post it.

Fond Farewell Sparkling Peach

ETA back in January (I was reading back) Megan posted some concerns on this, SP items were on sale for $5.00 in Jan.
