I didn't see a thread for a no-buy challenge for 2008. I know it's almost halfway through the year, but hey, it's never too late to start a no-buy challenge!

Due to financial hardship, I put myself on a no-buy challenge for the entire year of 2008. So far, I have been successful. I have not bought a single bath and body product since making a big sale IoE order in late November!

Is anyone on here currently on a no-buy challenge? If so, how is it going? Are you using up lots of stuff? What are your "secrets?"

If you want to know my secrets, here they are: I have cleaned out the areas where I store my products, such as under the sink and my B+B drawers. That gave me an idea of what I have the most of and what I should use up first. I have been using up e-tailer and older products first. BBW and VS products can wait since they have long shelf lives. I have also given my unused products away as gifts and given unwanted products to friends and family. I am planning to eventually sell some of my products on eBay. I have also found other uses for some products; for example, unwanted body sprays have become air fresheners.

Here is the best way to go on a no-buy: go "shopping" in your own home. Go through your storage area and discover things you didn't know you had. That beats the rush of buying something, even if ot's on sale! rofl

Great tips, Wendy.Yes
I pretty much suck at no-buys. I've done well when it comes to bath & body stuff though. I haven't been to BBW in at least a couple of months (not counting my recent trip to the outlet).
I've made a great effort to reduce the B&B stuff that I have as well. Not too long ago, I shipped a ton of TD stuff to my friend in two large boxes, and I've given a lot away to others as well.
I am ecstatic with the space I've gained. fly2

Good luck to those, who are trying to be on a no-buy.Flower

I suck at no buys too. Yes I haven't made any etailer orders since the beginning of Apr., mostly b/c there hasn't been a lot of new stuff that I've been interested in.

But I wish good luck to those who are on no buys.

Good job Wendy!!! Bowdown Thats impressive, and very hard to do.

I need to be on a no buy, but I also cant do them. I am trying to be better, because I truly have too much. I just cant be on a complete no buy, when I break down and buy something I go hog wild. Good luck to everyone who is trying a no buy. Big Grin

Thanks for all the praise! Trust me, it's hard at times, especially when e-mails with huge sales and yummy products come around. No matter what, I just keep reminding myself that I need more stuff like I need a hole in my head. I think about the stress I feel when I look at all of my stuff and say, "Oh my gosh, I need to use all this stuff up sometime!" Then I remind myself that I should be spending my money more wisely, like on my stacks of bills. jawdrop chased
