Have any of you thought about working for BBW for the holidays? In my stores I have people from all walks of life. Some have full time jobs want to work a few hours on the weekend, some are college students, some are Moms that want to talk to adults for a few hours a week and make a few extra bucks and some people just want to work there for the discount to buy Christmas gifts. Our customers make the best employees!

I did one of the "pre-applications" for a part time gig there about three weeks ago, but haven't heard anything.
Is this common? Any suggestions?

Jano, I use to do this. Does your store use call-ins? The store I worked at always had people "on call," and you had to call the store to see if they needed you. It was such a waste!! I'd hate using up part of my day because I *might* have to work, and then not get paid anything for it. I'm just curious if this a company procedure or if only certain stores utilize it...thanks...

Jano1---I'm surprised that you would suggest applying for jobs to the members of this forum. Most of what I have read here from them has been negative toward the changes our company is going through. One of our competencies is the ablility to lead change, which means being positive and embracing the changes we are going through for the better.

bathandbodyworksgirl........i adamantly disagree with you. we have the right to voice our opinions especially if we do not like something. however we overall still enjoy bbw otherwise we wouldn't have joined a message board where ALL we do is talk about bbw and share information about bbw with one another. if we disliked bbw that much we would quit shopping there....leave the board and move on. but the fact that we come here to share (both the good and the bad), shows that we have a deeper appreciation for bbw than most customers and even some employees. so in my opinion we would make the BEST employees. finally just because bbw changes doesn't mean we have to automatically revere and approve of these modifications. if we did then we would just be lemmings. some of the changes sound sketchy....so we test them out first and then make judgements. which is the appropriate course of action. that is just my pov.

If I wasn't having this baby so soon, I'd do it in a HEARTBEAT. I'm sure as it is, they don't want to hire someone who can work about 3 weeks and then have to go on leave. Is this the only time of year they hire???

I agree with Ronnie, I think we could make the best employees. We know more than half the people do that work there. Why? because it's our passion, our hobby, it's not like it's a job that we hate and are forced to work because we need the money. If someone came in and asked for a discontinued product, I'd more than likely know what it is, and be able to direct them to the 1-800 number or at least give them some info about it and not give out blank stares or rolled eyes. I'm not too pushy and overbearing and I know when to leave people alone. I will NOT grab people's hands and start massaging them!!!!!! (unless they ask, and then I'd feel creepy about it, but do it anyway!) All my life I've worked either in restaurants or retail, with 4 years retail managment experience. This is a job I want purely for FUN.

We like to come to this forum to gripe. Griping makes us feel good. It makes me feel like I"m not alone in my feelings. I don't gripe about EVERYTHING that BBW does, actually I think I've found myself saying all year long that I like the direction BBW is heading in this year as opposed to last year.
Sometimes it's nice to reminesce on the BBW that used to be, as I started shopping there more recently and I like to hear about all the cool stuff I missed out on.

I'm one of those people that just likes to gripe for the sake of griping. Five years from now I'll be sitting in this chair having a field day because BBW won't carry the True Tempations candles anymore, Aromatherapy was scrapped and because Lemon Meringue Pie lotion goes for $80.00 on ebay. (or some other hypothetical situation.) And I'll be like, "oh!!! remember when BBW had those beautiful red plastic bins during their semi annual sales?? man I miss all that stuff leaking on my hands!!!!! ahhh those were the days...!!"

Ok...not really. But I think you get my point.

For arguments sake, I do like some things that BBW has come out with lately, such as the in-shower moisturizers. That's about it. Heh.

I'm excited about Tutti Dulce, though... and the prospect of making 80 bucks off Solace on eBay.

Unfortunately it probably is taking a long time to look through the applications....Store Managers were gone to National Sales Meeting and the co-managers were running the stores and sometimes were shorthanded. If I were you I would call an ask them about your application.

Yes I know all about those call ins. All BBW stores do that. We hire so many people for Christmas but you never know who is going to flake on you or who is not going to show up. I started out as a part timer over Christmas so I know what you are talking about. Just when I was to the point of not even getting ready to go to work because I KNEW they weren't going to use me then they would need me!!! I don't know of a better way to do it than call ins. We have done extended shifts also.

I would LOVE to work at BBW for the fun of it also! It would be so cool to express my passion & knowledge about some of the great discontinued scents bbw has had, face to face with someone...not that I dont LOVE you girls! But like someone said this truly is our hobby & I really feel like I do know more than a lot of employees I have encountered...
