I've been thinking about this the past couple of days, but haven't gotten around to posting it. The end of the yr. is coming around & traditionally we've done a holiday swap. I know I'd be interested in participating if there was one. So I'm just posing the question to see if there's interest.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but what if we also did a Holiday Card exchange as well? Would anyone be interested in that? It's just a thought...

A card exchange sounds nice. I'm trying to figure out how this would work. Would we be sending a card to everyone who's participating in it or just one person?

To get this thing going, we still need to finalize deadlines & pick a swap organizer. I'll be passing the tiara of swap organizer to someone else this year.

My personal opinion regarding deadlines is that the Dec. 10 shipping deadline we've had for the past 2 yrs. seems like it would work fine this yr. I also think Oct. 12-13 might be good for a signup deadline. That way, we could have our elf assignments when BBW officially puts the holiday stuff out, but it won't be "too early". However, I'll go along with what the group decides, so debate is welcome.

Also, do we want to have the surveys again this year? I know a lot of us who participate in this swap know each other fairly well, but I'm thinking this might help if we have an elf who is newer to the board or doesn't post as much. Again, further comments/suggestions are welcome.

Megan, do you mind posting what you all usually do for the Holiday Swap? This is my first time participating and I just wasn't sure how it goes.

This is the Holiday Swap Rules & Announcements thread from last year. Meg, I hope that may answer any questions you might have. But if there's any other questions, feel free to ask.

I still don't have internet access at my home, so I wouldn't be able to volunteer to be the manager for the Holiday Swap this year. However, if anyone is willing to participate in a holiday card swap I will be happy to arrange that for everyone. If anyone is interested that is... I thought it would be a nice addition to the holiday festivities! But if no one wants to do it than I won't be offended.

I also think the shipping deadline of December 10 should still be in effect this year. I will probably mail mine earlier than that because I am going to Jackson Hole, Wyoming on December 9 but that's all good. I think the surveys did help out a lot - especially for the new people on the boards. Last year was my first year participating and it really helped me when I was deciding on my purchases for my "secret elf". I also think the October deadline for signup is a good idea. That way we have time to shop around and everything.
