I don't have anything to add, because all of you have great ideas! Clap

Kimmer, I haven't ever swapped on MUA. I'm not that brave! Errr I feel way better about swapping here.

It is really nice that you can state an opinion and not get tomatoe on this board. Big Grin Most aren't like this one, that's for sure!

But how are we going to determine the swap participants without being "cliquish" (SP)?, plus being "safe"? idunno

Any ideas?

Here's my .02 Smiler:
I guess I'm really not too concerned about being "cliquish" (I think that's the right spelling noelle Smiler) b/c we all have a good idea of who posts regularly. Plus, there is always the post itself as a proof of who posts regularly and the number of posts they have. I know it's a delicate issue, but I don't think it's really exluding anyone b/c we all have a fairly general consensus of who is a board "regular" and who isn't. If anyone was to feel excluded, perhaps they should get more active on the board throughout the year and make a name for themself Big Grin

Noelle- Wave I think MUA is a very precarious topic in that there are many schools of thought about the site itself, about the people there, and about swapping through MUA. All I can say is that it like everything else is all pretty relative.
Sure there are a few glitches in the grand scheme of things, and things are definitely done differently there (ie: rules, guidelines, and etiquette) but at the end of the day if done correctly and with caution, it's easy to realize that you may easily meet some of the most wonderful people and the most positive of experiences there. It's really about deciding on whether that environment is right for you...if it is, run with it, if it isn't that's completely fine too Smiler. You never know until you try winking.
But - I cannot begin to compare this board to that one...I think this board, the way it is set up, and the people here that make it as wonderful to be a part of that it is, are in a league all of it's/their own. This board along with being fun, friendly, warm, and informative...feels somewhat like a virtual home Yes. You know you're surrounded by friends here. I adore it here! grouphug!!!

About what Anan said - I'd have to reiterate on what she just "said". It is by no means about excluding anyone (goodness no...hey the more the merrier Yes) but about establishing the comfort that we've established with those who are more present on the boards, and it isn't about who is here and who isn't just because you "need to be here", but if you ARE here it gives everyone else the opportunity to get to know you, your likes, your dislikes, etc...

Everyone is just so friendly and this is such a sweet and warm board that I sincerely don't think anyone will feel excluded. Certainly not by those who are here Smiler.

Speaking of you Anan your avatar is absolutely adorable!!!

anan,

I probably used the wrong word to describe what I was saying, but I guess I meant to reiterate what you said in your posts. Yes

Kimmer,

I know for the most part most people are honest and there are probably more successful transactions on MUA than not and people have met great friends. I see some great stuff that I would love to swap for on there too. Love

Maybe someday I will test the waters, probably after the holidays. Big Grin I guess it's easier to swap here, because you "know" people better. Wink

I guess we just need a vote on the amount and the date for the X-mas swap.

I vote $20-$25. idunno

I vote for $20-$25 as well, but I do understand that for some it may be a little too high. It is the holiday season so people have more expenses plus some of us have large families and lots of presents to buy for as it is.
We also have to take postage into account.
I think for those people they could spend less but be more creative with the wrapping perhaps?
Just a thought.Smiler

I vote $20-$25, but I guess I'd say my limit is $20 and the other $5 towards shipping Smiler

It looks like I might have to sit this one out then Frowner since because I am an international swapper shipping might be more than what some might be comfortable with as far as shipping is concerned.

It's completely cool though I am sure this secret santa swap is going to be a BLAST! You all have shared quite a few wonderful ideas Yes...Woohoo.

I can still send something from my end though Yes Smiler.

Noelle- Thanks for the quick response girly winking. I hear what you're saying and I am definitely thinking your open minded perspective is quite admirable Yes.
I am sure that whomever you decide to swap with on MUA (if and/or when you do decide to swap through there), will be counted one of the lucky for getting the chance to swap with you Yes hug.

Wow!i just logged on now, ive been gone this
weekend, ive noticed a lot of replies to
the post, and i am happy to hear all of you
are interested in this. Yes
i totally understand on the concerns of
swapping with someone who is not a regular person and or has not swapped, etc.
great points ladies. Wink
Fryl-yes you most certainly can be the one
who picks names. Angel
i think the general concensus is that
a swap is good.
Thank You Everyone!!! hug
i think someone who has been here
for at least awhile and or has swapped a lot
with and very trustworthy.
i was thinking of a number of sucessfull
swaps would be good, lets say about at least 4
or 5.
i think that dollar amount should be done once
we all decide who can participate.

so to everyone post whom you have had successful
swaps with on this board, i think that is
reasonable and fair, i want everyone who
agrees with this to first indicate yes or
no and then compile those people together.
after reading all the opinions, this is the
only way i can think of.comments? Coffee

i also dont want to offend anyone here
about the way this will be done, just want
to be sure that we have a safe and happy swap
and that everyone gets their swap.

after this is all decided, a "swap wish list"
can be made for those to post so we can all
get ideas.

sorry for the scattered posting, my brain
was shut off this weekend.lol.
oh i like the little bags of extras that was suggested. Woohoo

Thanks for allowing me to be in charge of assigning the Secret Santas. I'll be picking the names randomly so it'll be fair and a complete surprise.
This is going to be sooo much fun!!

Wait wait...I think I need to sit this one out Frowner. Because looking at the prices people are justifiably comfortable with delegating to this, I am thinking shipping internationally (as some of you know I am living abroad at the moment) might be a little pricey for some. I'd hate to have someone get "stuck" with having to ship internationally to me and be uncomfortable with the expenditure.
So I'll take myself out of the Secret Santa fun. It sounds wonderful though Yes...have a blast you guys Yes!!!
