So, I decided to let you know what I like my staff to do-
I encourage them to greet, but not pounce. Ask, WHat brought you in today? or When was the last time you were here? Then we "Tour" you around the newer tables, explain promos-offer a demo, then wait for you to need more assistance while helping others..What do you get at your BBW?

What I got at my BBW, and what I was trained to do when I worked there, was greet, ask if they need assistance, and if they say yes, quickly direct them to where they want to be. If they say no, then leave them alone. Periodically ask them if they're still finding everything all right. Basically don't push, but still be attentive.

A greeting is nice, but I'm always asked about if I need any help or anything. I usually have to respond by saying, "I'm just looking around". I don't really need to hear the promos; I just pretend to listen. I can see how it would help someone who didn't know, but I'm more informed than the avg. customer.
I like to be greeted and told the promos, and then left alone. I like knowing what's on sale and what's new. However, I don't like a huge spiel about one specific product that I might not be interested in (I feel rude not listening, but I usually want to start looking around on my own). If I have questions, I will ask.
I've never really cared for demos, either, since I like to try products on my own. I'm glad that BBW has stopped pushing demos like they used to. When I worked there in 2001, we were all supposed to walk around with a lotion bottle in our apron pocket for people to try. Yuck.
I like to be greeted. Even a smile is fine. As long as the employees acknowledge me I'm happy. I do like it when they tell me the promos. Mainly because that's what I'm in for.
I like to be greeted, told about the demos and then be on my own because afterwards if I need anything i'd prefer to ask myself. I don't care for demos either. Once again, if i want to try something then i'll ask for it.
I hate giving demos. I'm always told to demo something but i usually just walk around with whatever and never demo it...unless it's mentha. I find them invasive and awkward for not just the me, but the customer.
I like to be greeted and informed of what's on special. Demos are kind of 'iffy'. If it's a lotion/cream I usually hand the customer a tester to experience the product for themselves. The company which trained me..back when dinosaurs roamed the earth..said once the product is in the customer's hands..it's sold! Of course there are freaky customers.. Like a woman who came up to the counter and wanted me to make her look like a 'hottie' because she had a date with one of her son's friends. Had to do lots of makeovers and the worst thing that ever happened was a client who wanted to take me home with her (am sure she was kidding) and proceeded to purchase 2 of everything I used on her face. Several prom and wedding clients. No problem. At BBW with fragrance I hand the customer the tester rather than spraying a blotter. Or spritz it on myself. And if they like it, tell them how to make it last with 'luxuries.' Gotta luv people who smell the bottle.. I feel sorry for guys. Either they come into the store totally lost or with a list.

I like a friendly hello, and if I need assistance I like a friendly informed employee to help. I also like for them to tell me what the new and latest specials are.
*********************** My scent for March: Pink Sugar!
I like to be greeted then left alone. As someone else said, we're more informed than the average customer and usually don't need to be told about n ew products or sales. Other people who aren't BBW die hards might still enjoy more information from a SA.

I don't mind being offered a demo, in fact I was offered one today, even though I couldn't smell anything...it was some of the new Aquatanica stuff. I don't mind being greeted either, but usually I know ahead of time what the sales are so sometimes I get annoyed when they are like, "well our BIG deal today is buy 3 get one free...."
I just like to be greeted and left alone. I always decline the demos. Don't want people to invade my personal space and I frequently buy things because I feel obligated
