I don't know why, but lately I have had really itchy skin. Not every day- but just once every two weeks or so. I've tried oatmeal baths and that only seems to work for about five minutes. Are there any lotions anyone would recommend for me? Something not too expensive though. I'm still balling on a budget!

Eucerin calming cream is really good for itchy/splotchy skin.

aquaphor is really good, i dont care for the fact its not a scented lotion like bbw, but i had got some for my ex, when he was working at a rest and had to wash his hands in chemicals, his hands were itchy all the time, as well as the rest of him, says it worked pretty good.
not bad for a guy who doesnt like to use that stuff, like most of them dont. also crabtree works pretty good too, for a little less than 20 bucks, for the jojoba oil or if your at a tjmaxx or marshalls the asquith and somerset body butter are prety cheap and smell good and work good too. i hope you find something that works for you. formerly known as souffle lady, hey i still am, lol |

I've had excellent results with Palmer's, Cococare and Queen Helene cocoa butter products from CVS. Also the Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Butter line.
Palmer's has a spray on anti itch product which is really great. Some of these products do contain mineral oil..but it hasn't killed me yet. A lot of the more expensive body butters are less moisturizing and don't seem to address itchiness. The cocoa butter products smell great too and most are under $8. |

I'm going to have to agree with Jeff, cocoa butter products are amazing. I think Palmer's and Vaseline brand both make a body butter, which is very thick that might help. Plus you can buy those brands pretty much anywhere for cheap!
I think some other tips would be to use a very moisturizing shower gel, such as Dove, which is very thick and creamy, so it isn't a soap that will dry your skin even more. And of course put lotion on immediately after taking a shower. I'm constantly washing my hands and using hand sanitizers, so my hands get dry a lot too. But everytime after I do this, I put on lotion to keep them healthy. If you make this a habit, it really helps! |
