I think gas right now is around 2.79-ish. It was getting to the three dollar mark, but I don't think it's gotten past three dollars (for regular). I remember when I first started driving and gas was 99 cents...man, times they are a changin'

Edward,

Rotflol

When I started driving, gasoline was 25 cents a gallon and it cost $2.50 to fill up my car.

I raised all sorts of hell when it went up from 59 cents to 79 cents because my Oldsmobile Cutlass had a 455 engine and sucked gas.

I filled up my gastank yesterday, the price on the display said 2.97 but they hadn't changed the prices at the pumps so I got it for 2.74 a gallon.

The high gas prices suck, but hopefully it will spur changes in the direction of our being less dependent on oil. It's a finite resource, much of which is controlled by Middle Eastern countries, and we simply MUST start using alternative energy sources. Off my Soapbox now. Big Grin

I paid 2.94 at the pump today. It's awful we have to spend so much on gas! It's better for the environment though, if we drive less.

$3.74 for 93 Octane!
Eeker

My Jeep really sucks gas because it has a Grand Cherokee V8 engine transplant. It gets approximately 11-16 MPG. With the a/c it drops to 9.

My 1951 military Jeep gets 25 MPG and runs on 65 octane gas.

I've investigated Dodge Ram diesels but they only average 18 MPG. They also cost $55,000.

Forget the 'hybrids'. Did anyone see the Southpark episode on hybrids? It was hilarious.

$3.08 at Costco.

Test drove a Civic Hybrid the other week. My husband drives approximately 100 miles to and from work in a gas guzzlin' Ford f-150.
