i am in tallahassee, fl (state capital, in the panhandle, about 3 or 4 hours drive east of new orleans) and our city is FULL to the brim with evacuees fleeing from the hurricane and its damage, and MANY and soon to be ALL of the gas stations within 50 miles of town are shut down because they are OUT OF GAS, and those that are still open have long lines of cars waiting to fill up! my husband and i filled up our cars today (with premium, because that was all that was left) because we dont know how long it will be before there is any more. regular (when there was any) was about $3/gal, and we paid over $4/gal for the premium.

Ciao!

Here in the windy city it varies, I saw one place at 3.11 and another at 3.29 and yet another at 2.99 so I guess it just depends on where you are in the city. This is all for regular by the way.

This is one time where I'm actually happy not to have a car. The gov. of GA just recently decided to eliminate taxes for gas for Sept. Since I either walk or pay $1.75 for subway fare, I haven't really paid that much attn. to gas prices. I heard that it got as bad as $5-6, but now I hear that it might be around $4. Still, it's definitely way too much!

Here in Michigan, two days ago it was 3.19, yesterday it was 3.38 (all for the cheap stuff) and today it's starting to come down to 2.99. Last week we were at @ 2.50. INSANE!!!! I blame Speedway, we all know around here that speedway stations set the price and everyone follows them. So now I boycott Speedway for being GREEDY...then again shame on everyone else for being followers!!! Mad

I was wondering how everyone's doing now on gas prices. It's around $2.22 - $2.25 anywhere in Tampa for regular nowadays.

I was shocked yesterday when I saw a Shell on one of our major freeways going for $2.03/gal.!!! So, looks like maybe *crossing fingers* it's taken a downward turn.

It's around $0.90/L here in Canada, so that's approximately $3.42/gallon. It's a lot more expensive up here. But at 90 cents it's already considered a bit cheaper.

Jade,

I recall freaking out when it cost me $30 Candian to fill the Jeep up in 1994.

Now it costs $69 American.

I'm getting really angry about the price gouging being done with the gas prices, as I'm sure we all are. I am especially pissed today, because on my way to work this morning - it was $2.59. (Fairly cheap compared to what it has been for the past month... around $2.90) I was nearly out on my way in this morning but decided to just wait until I got off work.

I get off and head to the gas station - freakin' $2.95. Just since this morning!!!! WTF!

The highest I've seen it get up to here is $3.19, and that was this past summer. I'm sure that will seem cheap in comparison to the prices we'll certainly be getting soon.
