The Host is not related to the Twilight series. It's a stand alone book. I really enjoyed it - even though it was some 400 or so pages long!

I am also looking forward to the movie in December. I'll be in Jackson Hole on vacation with the hubby but I will try to see it there if I can. Smiler

I finished reading Breaking Dawn today. I have now finshed the whole Twilight series. I really loved all the books. Big Grin

I started reading Nights In Rodanthe, by Nicholas Sparks. I have already read this book, but I wanted to refresh my memory. The movie opens in a couple weeks, and I kinda forgot what the book was about.

I just finished reading Running With Scissors. It ended up being a good book, but very strange and weird at the same time. I saw they have a sequel to it called Dry, so I will have to check that out. Smiler

I am reading Love The One You're With by Emily Giffin. I am about halfway through it, and am really liking it. I have read her 3 other books, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Baby Proof. All 3 of those books were really good. Smiler

I also love the show! Yes
So far the first book is good, I am only about 1/4 through it. It is following the show really closely so far, so i am not sure if I want to read the others yet or not. Most times the book is so much better than the show/movie, but in this case I actually think the show is better. Big Grin

Fryl, I bought them in a set of 7. I know she has 2 or 3 new books out after the 7, but I figured 7 books would keep me busy for awhile. Smiler I bought the set at Walmart.com, I know its only available online. They also sell it at Amazon, those are the 2 cheapest places I found it with Walmart being the cheapest.

Amazon

I've been doing a lot of reading since it's summer. Cool Since I've gotten into the True Blood show, I've started to start reading the books (albeit slowly). I've read the first 2 in the series (Dead After Dark, Living Dead In Dallas) & have liked both of those.

Since Emily Giffin is one of the few chick lit authors I haven't read, I decided to try out one of her books. I read Something Blue & ended up liking it even though I had originally not expected to. There were times I wanted to knock some common sense into the lead character though. Now that I'm finished with that, I want to read Something Borrowed, the first book in that series.

I also decided to read The Nanny Diaries. While it was good, I have to say that I liked the movie better. It ended on a more optimistic note than the book. Yes

Here's a review of some other books I've read this summer. Some of this was stuff I forgot to mention in my earlier post & some of this is stuff I've read this month.

The Finishing Touches (Hester Browne): This was an entertaining chick lit novel. Yes The ending was a bit weak though.

Something Borrowed (Emily Giffin): A good chick lit read. Yes I do admit at some times I disagreed w/ the main character's reasoning.

Memoirs Of A Geisha (Arthur Golden): Such an excellent story! Yes However, I didn't feel the last third of the book was as strong as the first 2/3. I plan on renting the movie for this.

Almost Single (Advaita Kala): This is a interesting chick lit novel that takes place in India. It was a quick read; I was able to finish it in 2 days. Yes

The Gatecrasher & The Wedding Girl (both novels by Madeleine Wickham): The premise of The Wedding Girl sounded interesting at first, but got to be depressing towards the end. The Gatecrasher, however, was much more interesting & kept me intrigued the whole way through even though I was only lukewarm about it before reading it. I've come to the conclusion that I like what Madeleine Wickham writes as Sophie Kinsella more than what's under the Madeleine Wickham name (with The Gatecrasher being the notable exception).

The Temptation Of The Night Jasmine (Lauren Willig): I've been addicted to Lauren Willig's Pink Carnation historical spy novels since first discovering them in 2006. So I had to read this yr.'s addition. However, I found it to be the weakest of the series. But I have faith that her next novel due in early 2010, The Betrayal Of The Blood Lily, will be much better.

I think this thread needs some reviving. What has everybody else been reading this summer? Fish
