I just started swapping on Makeup Alley, where I had been offering product reviews. I'm just curious if anyone else here swaps on Makeup Alley, and maybe we could all give one another tips on how to avoid swaplifters, and basic troubles?
I just started swapping, so I have very little feedback and people seem hesitant to accept my offers. I'm also paranoid that when people ask me for an offer I'll get ripped off.

Maybe we can all share experiences and tips to make swapping fun? Thanks!!! Smiler

I just started 1 month ago and haven't had any problems. I've been swapping with people who are experienced and have a good amount of tokens. I would be hesitant to swap with someone else who is new since there wouldn't be any / many tokens to judge them by. All of mine have had me ship first, which I completely understand and don't mind doing.

I think the way for people to trust you is to just ship first and do everything you agree on. I know a lot more of you are experienced MUA's and I'm still new, but that's what I've learned so far. Smiler

I love it there!

MUA is funnier than MADD TV. And you guys probably think I write horrible things. Wink
I give this product zero lippies because it smells like a@@. Rotflol
Haven't swapped in a long time. I'd rather just put something in a box and send it to a fellow board member here who might find it useful.

Tutti, if you want that Philosophy stuff, just lemme know.

Lucky, lucky girl, olfactorygirl Smiler

Swapping can be so much fun, but it can also be an annoyance. I gave anan a lot of tips. I have 34 tokens right now, but I'm undergoing about five swaps right now, so I'll soon have nearly 40.

There are some very nice people on MUA, but there are also some creeps. You have to know who to avoid. There's one person who supposedly spams people and harasses and bullies them until they swap for what she wants! She posts nasty things on the boards too. I'm glad she's there for makeup only (I'm there for bath and body items) because I'll probably never have to deal with her! Let's see, she made a post about how she wanted to punch her mom for trying to wake her up when a job she applied for called her early in the morning. Who would get mad if some place actually called them for a job? Confused Getting a job is so hard these days!

I've also dealt with some nutters when swapping. One girl tried to rip me off and accused me of not sending my item because USPS was slow, one with 690+ tokens ignored me for an entire month and refused to give me a token for even longer, and one gave new meaning to the awful stereotype "dumb blonde." The other people I've swapped with have been more than a pleasure to deal with!

I know how anan feels; people used to ignore my requests when I was new. Heck, a lot of people still get ignored when they have lots of tokens. It's unfortunate that some of the ladies there have to be so unlady-like, but at least there are some great people to make up for them! Personally, I would feel better about swapping with the nice people on this board. Flower

Yes, I've pestered Wendy wanting tips about how to avoid the craz-o's! LOL!! Rotflol

I'd love it if we could get swapping more active on this board. The ones I've done here have been successful.

I love the product reviews on MUA. Do I let them decide if an item is for me? NO! I'll just write my own review that someone else will say is "wrong"! LOL!!!

A person has to start somewhere and I just get tired of people who won't even respond to a request. I guess it just takes time.
I guess I just want to gripe, too Frowner

I used to love reading reviews on epinions.com, then I found MUA's reviews about a year ago. They're great! I think a lot of people found MUA for reviews, then gradually started swapping and posting on boards and all that.

Speaking of the boards, avoid them at all costs during the day. They're so off topic and stupid at that time of day it's not even funny. People make polls, talk about their husbands and kids and life drama, and just act dumb in general. Yesterday, someone made a thread asking where someone was on the *BATH AND BODY* forum. People literally make entire threads to say they're going to bed. I think if you haven't logged on or posted within the last hour, then I can safely assume you've gone to bed. You have to scroll through off topic crap to find anything, and then once you find something on topic you don't have time to read it. The annoying thing is that there actually is an off topic board, but they won't use it. I know off-topicness is a dumb thing to complain about, but people like me who have things to do suffer because we can't find real on topic discussions. Sometimes I wonder if these people who claim to be married and have kids really are who they say they are; wouldn't their families wonder where they are when they're spamming a board all day long?

*turns rant mode off*

But yeah, other than the craziness, MUA is a really nice and helpful place!

I like reading the reviews on MUA as well. There's a review on just about any scent or cosmetic article out there, which is great. I have not attempted swapping and don't think I am interested to do so. Smiler

I have no interest in MUA either. I did look @ the website briefly during the summer & I noticed that a lot of people tended to be interested in MAC stuff. That's not where my interests lie, so I don't even want to join. This board is much better!

This board is definitely better! I've tried reading the threads over there but they're not set up like our board here and are hard for me to follow. I do love reading the reviews there though, that's my favorite part. Smiler

I agree, I just don't like the technical way the board's set up. Threads disappear once new ones are posted, no matter how popular they are. I like how this board (and pretty much any other board, for that matter) has threads that reappear once people make new posts. I don't know what software they use, but it kinda stinks.

Wendy, you can have the philosophy cinnamon buns if you want. That is of course if Jeff says it's okay! hehehehe I just used up a cinnamon buns 3 in 1 and am good for a while on that scent. Thanks for the offer though Jeff!

I love makeupalley!! I don't swap as often as I used to but I still seem to send out a package a week. Is it okay to ask what everyone's MUA name is? I'd love to look at people's swap pages and notepads. Who knows, I may have swapped with one or some of you before already. Razzer

It usually takes me about 24-48 hours to respond to a swap request. But I always respond!

If any of you gals get a swap request from HotLips1979, don't respond! She's a crazy swapper who's been harassing a lot of people lately. I narrowly escaped a swap with her. Thank the LORD above for that one! titanic
