I thought I'd start a thread about the really weird, random stuff that happens to us.

I got home from running errands today, and as I close the garage door, a bird flies at my head! fly2 My first instinct is to slam the door and duck...but too late. The bird flew into the kitchen, slammed into the glass patio door, and is now locked in my boyfriend's spare "hobby room" with the window open and the screen removed in case he wants to leave.

Poor bird, I hope the bird is alright. Did the kitties see him?
My cat would have a field day.Smiler

Last night my cat also did a weird thing. Lately she's been sleeping on my chest( as if it's not flat enough. Roll Eyes), my arms were under the duvet so I couldn't cover my mouth with my hand while yawning. Anyway, my cat tried to stick her head in my mouth! Crap

Fryl, that is too funny about your cat. I *assume* the bird has left by now, and I think he was all right, just terribly frightened. Luckily, the cat was not at home at the time of the "incident". I'm sure Gravy would have appreciated an early Thanksgiving dinner, though. croc

My female dog has just recently gotten into the habit of sleeping right next to my HEAD on the pillows. As if lying by my side isn't good enough. Bonk She has to be as close to my face as possible and often puts her face right on mine while I'm trying to sleep. Arrrggghh. I guess I'd better try to nip this habit in the bud, because it really does disrupt my sleep. Bonk

I'm not sure I'll have the heart to stop her, though!!!! Razzer

BBW Rawks, it's definitely not good when your sleep gets disrupted, but doesn't it just melt your heart when your baby tries to be as close to you as she can?

BBW Rawks - that is so funny how your sleeps on the pillow like a little human. My dog used to do that until i banned him from the bed. He snores SUPER loud and in the middle of the night he stretches in his sleep and always ends up kicking me Rotflol

This didn't happen to me but my mother-in-law. We arrived to my in-laws' house around 10:30 Thanksgiving morning. We didn't know my MIL wasn't there, we thought she was getting dressed or something. Then I heard the garage door. She came in saying, "I just got back from the emergency room" & laughing. We were like WHAT?? Speechless What happened?? Very concerned something bad had happened. Well, she was scratching the inside of her ear and her fake nail came off & became lodged inside. My FIL couldn't see it to get it out so she had to go to the emergency room to have them take it out with some long tweezers. She was laughing all day about that one.

Then, my BIL had to show her up (not really) and get himself hurt. He was playing football & moved the wrong way and tore his achillies (sp) heel. Sick He went to the doc today & has to have surgery on Thur and will be in a cast for a few months. I feel so bad for him. He's very active and this will be so hard for him to handle. Other than that, my Thanksgiving was pretty un-eventful...At least everyone is ok.

Oh my goodness texgirl, i hope your BIL gets better soon. I have a friend who is very athletic and his worst fear is injuring achilles heel.

I am sorry I had to laugh when I read about your MIL. I think this is the first time I've heard about a fake nail being lodged in the ear. I'm glad she's ok though Smiler

Not an adventure at all, but so sweet that I had to share. I get home from a long night at work, and my boyfriend has plugged in my brand new Santa Christmas decoration AND the tree xmastree AND had made a homecooked dinner! How sweet is he?!? Love

I started decorating the day before Thanksgiving. Bonk

There is a huge closet with swinging double doors on the side paneled wall when I go upstairs to my bedroom and I had a few Christmas decorations that I was getting out. My phone rang and I went back downstairs to answer it.

When I went back up the stairs, I forgot that I left the door open and was walking up with my head turned talking to my DH. When I turned my head, I smacked HARD into the door with my head and fell back down the stairs.

Those cartoons where the birds are swirling around your head are REAL! Rotflol

My DH ran and helped me up, and you know when you are hurt and when someone is trying to talk to you, and you rather they didn't for a few minutes? Crap

I just had a huge bruise on my forehead for a few days and my DH's teasing about it was probably the worst of it. Wink

Adventures at my work:
I work in a testing center for adults taking professional tests. Today there was a man who looked to be in his mid-fifties, and when he finished his exam, it wouldn't show his score as it should have, but instead it just shut the test down. I called my company's tech support line about this, and the tech told me that the test did indeed finish, and the man could just go to the testing board's website and view/print his score there. Easy, right? No. That answer wasn't good enough for the guy who became increasingly irate when he realized that he wouldn't be getting his score from us.

We have very strict rules at my work, and once you sign out in the log book, you cannot go back in without signing back in. The man was signed out, and he attempted to go back in to his computer. My coworker politely said to him that he couldn't do that, and he actually yelled at her "I can do anything I want!!!" At this point I was on the phone with my District Manager for this a-hole when I said very firmly (but not rudely) "No, you can't." slapface

Anyway, the DM said the same thing - have him go to the website and access his score because it was completely out of our hands now (contrary to what most testers think, we actually have no idea what happens to the testers before or after they test. We're sent a test package through our server from a client, and once it's finished, we can't access it anymore). Again, he didn't like that answer and wanted me to call my DM's boss. I was trying to be as patient and helpful with this guy as I could, so I called our territory manager, who is in charge of all of the south and Puerto Rico (and who you DON'T call unless something exploded or someone died). Luckily, he wasn't available, so I left a voicemail. When I got off the phone, the guy said, "Call the next one up." I calmly explained to him that there was NO ONE else.

This waste of time went on for about a half hour, and at one point the guy said something along the lines of "I can stand here as long as it takes - we can still be here Monday morning doing this." Roll Eyes

Right before he left, he was standing in the office doorway and complaining about the entire situation. I was trying to be respectful and listen to him, so I was nodding but not saying anything (I was also on hold with tech support again at his request). Anyway, he was bitching and the last thing he said was "All this is happening and you're just sitting there shaking your head" and walked out the door. triplemad chased slapface gun2

EXCUSE ME, asshole, but I just went above and beyond protocol to deal with your neurotic problem. In a span of half an hour trying to resolve this for you, I:
1. Called tech support
2. Called my boss
3. Called the district manager
4. Restarted your computer to see if I could get the score that way.
5. Called the territory manager
6. Called tech support again

And I got the same answer time and time again. "Your score is available on your board's website. It's easily accessible. I'm sorry, but there's nothing more that I can do."

That guy made my ten and a half hour shift seem to last a week. rantonoff

Becky,

What a nightmare of a guy! Sorry you had to deal with that and I bet you were glad when your day was over. Yes Hopefully you won't get someone else like him again.

Well my DH had a good laugh (and so did I, when I thought about it). Razzer

I came home and my DH was eating some of the candy that I had bought for my "elf" to send.
I yelled "You are eating my "elf's" candy!!!!!
He looked at me and said "WHAT"???? "Your ELFS candy?? He was laughing so hard because I was serious and he just thought it was funny that I had a "elf". Rotflol

So tomorrow, I am going to buy my elf some more. Razzer
