For anyone who likes Bare Escentuals, Target had 5 different makeup kits for sale. As far as I know these are new. I dont believe I have seen Bare Escentuals at Target before now. Smiler

Most of the kits were in the $40-$50 range.

Just to add my 'two cents'...

Bare Essentuals is still rather expensive @ $40 to $50 for a kit.

Bare Essentuals is now opening up stores in malls in my area.

Although I am now officially on disability due to my illness, I am still doing makeovers on clients and can devote more time to doing that.

I've found that the Bare Essentuals colors are either too yellow or too 'ashy'. Especially on my clients who are darker skinned.

Lezza Gibbons 'Sheer Cover' is a much less costly product. The color range is a lot better. Lezza's 'kit' has a refillable 'on the go brush' which enables you to put your pots of makeup into a brush..a lot less messy.

However, the only 'down side' of Sheer Cover is that one must order her products on an 'auto ship' basis, i.e., replenishment every few months.

I've done some research on mineral powders and find you can get the same, if not better bare mineral products at your local CVS, Walgreen's or simiilar drug store. Avon also has excellent mineral powders.

The best color range so far is with Maybelline or L'Oreal. I would not bother with Lancome as it is owned by L'Oreal and you are just paying for the name.

The two lines I mentioned come in a wide variety of colors and you can get an exact match for half the price of Bare Essentuals without having to purchase a 'kit'. Have noticed the colors in the kits are too pale for most people.

So guys, check out your local drug store to see what's available and try the testers.

A 'kabuki' brush is the best for overall natural coverage, and a small concealer brush works well to cover flaws. Brushes can also be found at reasonable prices at drug stores.

Mineral powders can be applied over your own skin care products so there is no need to invest extra $$$$ in special boosters, etc, which Bare Essentuals and Sheer Cover are 'pimping'.

To add 'color' simply use a darker shade and apply in the shape of a 3 over your powder foundation. Light to medium skin tones can use a bronze shade. Darker skin tones will find a plum shade or highter will work best. I hesitate to use the word 'blush' as it's obsolete these days.

Hope this has been of some help. Experiment away and enjoy.

Jeff, I saw the Leeza Gibbons set (Sheer Cover) you were talking about. They were actually selling it at Bed Bath & Beyond.
I am not sure what the price was though. I am also not sure if they just started carrying it. idunno

Gizmo,

That's interesting. Show you how much I go shopping.

I watched her 'infomercial' and ordered two kits for $29 each for my 'kit'. The amount of product you get is very small. I mainly wanted the DVD that comes with the kit, as it's very informative.

Then had to cancel the 'auto ship' feature.

The 'light' kit is way too pasty and yellow.
Most skin tones should order the medium instead.

Her products are better than Bare Essentuals IMO.

I absolutely love BE! I have caramel colored skin and my coverage is flawless, not ashy or yellowy at all. Initially, the girl at Sephora gave me the wrong colors. But when they opened a BE store in my mall, I went there and found out what my colors were. I was able to exchange the kit for the proper one. The brushes in the kit are wonderful! I love the face brush and only use the full coverage kabuki occasionally. I also love my eye and cheek kabuki. It makes putting on eyeshadow a breeze especially the pigments.

But what works for one may not work for another so I would definitely recommend trying any of them prior to purchase if you can. I'll bet many of the brands work well and cost much less than BE but when I find something that works, I stick with it. One plus is that a little goes a long way and it lasts a long time!!
