I was looking through my lipstick collection & noted that it had grown quite a bit. I really am a lipstick addict. I used to wear only one shade for a long time before last year. But now, I've expanded my selection of shades. Lately I've been into bright pink shades.

Now it's time for everyone else to share their lipstick favorites & collections.

Right now, my favourite lipstick is Guerlain Chocolate Shine. I'm on my third one, I think.

I have quite a few lipsticks that haven't been opened yet. I'll try to take a picture of them soon.

I have them in Christian Dior, Chanel and Guerlain.

There's no way I can post my collection - I have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many. But I'm sure some of them have gone rancid - I need to go through my collection & toss the really old ones.

Most days I wear lipstick instead of lipgloss. My current favorite is MAC Modern Ms.

I also have way too many to be able to post them. I sometimes buy back-ups for some of my favorites, just in case they get discontinued.

One of my favorite lipstick brands was actually Olay- the whole line has been d/c for some time now, but those lipsticks lasted on my lips like nobodys business! The colors (the ones I have) were beautiful, and I get many compliments on them, when I wear them.

Hmm- it makes me wonder about the shelf life of a lipstick? I wonder if unused ones last longer than used ones? I've heard that they can go rancid but most of mine smell fine to me, and I continue to use them.
I keep them in several of those storage boxes with lids on them.
I have way too many, but that does not stop me from buying more

I think it depends on the brand & formulation. I have some really cheap lipsticks that are fine after 10 years, yet I had some $$ ones that went rancid after only a few years.

It's not consistent within one brand. I have some older stila lipsticks that are fine, yet some went bad. Same with Nars.

I don't think using versus not using really makes a difference.

I have never had a lipstick turn bad on me, so far.


I would think that storing them in a dark, cool place, as opposed to exposing them to the sun, air and heat would help a little.

This might sound but I have only 3 lipsticks (from Shiseido, Clinique, and Givenchy) .
They're all in shades of sheer light pink...and are colors that lend a "barely there" tint onto the lips when lightly applied.

Seeing as I am not a fan of having dark color on my lips, I don't use lipsticks (nor do lipsticks really suit me) , and usually just stick with sheer lipglosses .

Kimmer, I can top that! I don't own ANY lipsick at all!!

I have several tinted balms and glosses, and that is as tinted as my lips get. 99% of the time I'm using clear balm or barely tinted balm.

I don't lick my lips, but for some reason nothing stays on my lips for more than a few minutes, even "long lasting" stuff.

BBW Rawks & Fryl- thanks for the advice on storing lipsticks. It makes me feel better that you have not had any go bad either.
I think part of the reason I "collect" lipsticks is that I have sort of a packrat tendency to begin with- so I want to hoard stuff.

I also have no pigment in my lips- they are almost lighter than my skintone- and that is pretty light! I look dead without a fairly vibrant lipcolor on. I can't wear nude shades or brown tones either- they make me look too sullen- I wish I could- but I really need a pop of color or I look so washed out!

I wish I could be like Kimmer and Janelle- and only have a few lipsticks or glosses.
I have a friend who is like that with everything she owns- cosmetics, B&B, clothes, household items. She is sort of like a "minimalist" and doesn't like a lot of clutter or belongings. I am trying so hard to be like her- I am hoping she will rub off on me. I am making some improvement- at least I go through my stuff more often now, and throw out the really old stuff, but I keep replacing it with new stuff-LOL.

One of my sisters is a real minimalist, also. Hardly any makeup, clothes, etc.

I really need to get rid of some of my stuff. *makes mental note to try and work on it this weekend*

Janelle- you crack me up girly . I have to say that I understand where you're coming from and am very much in the same mindset which of course is why it's important to me that my lipglosses/lipbalms be super sheer with just a tiny hint of color...and only then, something that compliments the natural coloring of my lips (pink). For this reason I also LOVE ( ) TD's Mango Sorbetto L/G. It's super glossy, it has little teeny weeny sparkles, it has a little color, but it's super sheer (barely tinted). It's complimentary as opposed to overbearing. As for staying power, I am the exact opposite...glosses last super long on me. I never lick my lips and I have developed a way to eat/drink where it won't rub off onto whatever I am putting to my mouth. There's a trick to it .

Well I have a Lancome one that I got in a GWP but I never use it and I don't think I ever will. I prefer glosses.

I have one Very Sexy Makeup lip stick in Sweet Nothing that I never use. I'm more a gloss girl!

megan...did you see the C-shock lipstick swatches that TDJ posted on the MAC thread??? I can't wait to see if you like them

Tracey, I did take a look at the swatches that TD Junkie posted. I'll still try Pomposity & Vivacious, but I'll have to wait until next week to see what the final verdict is.

as for the lipsticks:
1. Bloom cosmetics (tangerine) my favorite
2. Smackers (blueberry twist) it's ok
3. Smackers ( cotton candy shine) pretty good
4. Liplicious ( fruit punch) not so good
5. Liplicious ( pink daquiri)pretty color
6. Liplicious ( chocolate covered strawberies.ok
as for lip balms:
Old Navy (lime colada) AWESOME FLAVOR
Nordstroms (gingerbread candy)too much scent
Target ( lemon cocktail) pretty good
