You 'must' have the muffster special. A Lily Pullitzer (spelling ?) tote.

Here in 'Stepford Wives' territory (the movie was filmed right here), Lily reigns supreme.

Every HS girl wears the chatreuse and pink skirts, flip flops and carries a tote. They drive Porsches, Jeep Wrangers (automatics of course), and will look like a 'Shar-pei' from tanning by the time they are 35.

Sort of like that movie Mean Girls except these girls are the real deal.

I wear hot lime green and shocking pink scrubs because I am so skinny the patients need to see me in the dark. (Tickled pink to take you to the bahth reum, my dear)

I actually got a beach tote in the mail yesterday. I got it from Victoria's Secret with the purchase of swimwear. It's huge, you can easily fit in three large beachtowels. It's pink and has embellishments that spell out the words Victoria's Secret.
There are some buttons on the side to so you can change the shape of the tote (tapered on top)

I'm thinking since beach totes might get dirty, something fairly inexpensive should do. Target & Old Navy usually has a selection of beach totes.

I've seen some of the Lilly Pulitzer stuff, but not a lot. Around here, it's the Vera Bradley bags that are more pervasive. They're quilted totes w/ paisley print & are so ugly. Roll Eyes

I got a agreat beach tote at Target last summer for $15. It was big enough to hold four beach towels, plus sunscreen, bottled water, etc. And it was nylon and mesh, so it was very easy to clean, and the mesh allowed damp towels to "breathe" instead of getting that stinky mustiness if you leave them in the bag in your trunk for a day or two. I love it, and I'm going to use it again this year! I found it in the same section with the beach towels, so they should be out again soon.

Vera Bradley bags are huge here, too ... but I don't care for them. They look like they are meant to carry either baby's diapers or grandma's bingo supplies.
I do kind of like the Lilly Pulitzer stuff, but in moderation. Hot pink and lime green floral sundresses and beach totes are not "seasonless", despite what the sororities around here think.

Ciao!

I have a mesh one too, and I must agree that it's wonderful. I can't even remember who got it for me, but I'd definitely recommend mesh ones.

Definately agree that mesh is the way to go for a beach bag. Vera Bradley is also big here. I don't really like it. I've never heard of Lily Pulitzer.

Becky,

A lot of Lily Pulitzer is worn in the Stepford Wives flick.

We have charming beaches here in CT, complete with medical waste washing up on the shores, gobs of sewage from New Yawk and oh yes, you might step on a rusty syringe while taking a romantic 'walk' along the shore,
Eeker
I saw Vera Bradley 'knockoffs' in a recent Avon catalog.

Omigosh, I tell people about how nasty Lake Erie is. I say don't go in unless you want to come out glowing from the industrial and nuclear waste.

The scary thing is that I swam in Lake Erie when I was seven. That was at Boblo Island (which is now closed), which is near River Rouge, which is one of the most polluted holes in the state... Speechless Eeker
