One of my fashion pet peeves are 'certain' trendy stores (cough, Abercrombie, cough) that carry sizes that are WAY to small for any normal size person. I consider myself of average build, but when I go in there the X-Large's even look too small. Places like Old Navy are much more realistic in their sizing.

No wonder young girls have such horrible, unrealistic body images. Furthermore, its no surprise that they end up wearing shirts that let their rolls hang out, or pants that look like a second skin. Soapbox

Yea, I agree about Vera Bradley....OLD PEOPLE!!! LOL!!!

I hate girls who are like size 10 or 12 trying to slip into size 6 pants and having their ass cheeks hanging out. it's NOT flattering!!! worship your body when it's that size!!!!

Also, young pregnant girls who let their little pregnant bellies hang out of their shirts..ugh!!!!!

This is probably my last chance to post for the next two weeks, as I'm getting married this weekend and then going away to Florida next week. Could someone enter my name in fraffles for me while I'm gone??? Bowdown I'm really wanting to win some of the vintage BBW samples if anyone does them again!!

until then.... wine TY

Congrats solace!! Have fun!!!

I have a black vera bradley backpack that goes everywhere with me and I'm only 26. oldman

Oh well, I'm not into fashion really. I prefer 3/4 sleeve cute shirts and jeans. I like vintage clothes too. 70's style (not too vintage I guess). Especially 3/4 length shirts like mentioned earlier. I'm totally boring.

I really really want a vintage aerosmith shirt. There was one designed for women in the 70's that was 3/4 sleeve with just the plain aero wings logo. I never see it on ebay. I can find the decal, but never the vintage polyester material it was made in. Crazy See I'm totally not atoon to the latest fashions. idunno

I thought of some things regarding the original subj. of the post. I was reminded by something in the Off Topic section that reminded me of another fashion trend I don't care for. That would be dangly navel rings. There have been times where I've gone to the mall & I've seen the dangle part of some girl's navel ring hanging out of her shirt. Not tasteful @ all. I admit that I have a navel ring, but I wear it tastefully. The type of navel jewelry I wear is known as a curved barbell & has a gemstone in it, but fits in the navel perfectly. I keep it covered up when I go out in public. I did it for myself, not to put it on public display unlike other females.

Too-tight clothes is a major turn-off, but so many stores make their clothing unrealistically small. That's why I usually need to go to Fashion Bug for clothes, because they realize that there are some people out there like me. I'm too small for Plus sizes, but I'm too big for the tiny clothes at PacSun and all those other mall stores.

I also really dislike thongs and low-riding pants together. Actually, I dislike both of these things, but together they make a double whammy.

I have petite legs, but most good pants are always insanely long on me. At some stores, there's no need to hem my pants. At most mall stores, the pants go from my feet to my collarbone when I hold them up to myself. Do all females really have freakishly long legs like this? jawdrop

The fact that bras are tiny in every store. I can never find one that fits, but I'm not willing to go bankrupt getting them custom-made. This may sound gross, but I used to be so fed up that I would simply go braless all the time.

REAL fur clothing. I think animal prints are beautiful and nice to wear, as long as they're FAKE and no animal was harmed.

I absolutely hate it when chicks feel the need to tan their skin to a crisp, then bleach their hair and cake on too much eyeliner. This is simply repulsive. If I were a guy, I would run and scream every time I saw someone like this.

Yeah I agree, about pacsun, wetseal, etc... Especially their tops. You'd think in a generation of wanting bigger boobs they'd fix the shirt sizes. what

I'm only 5'2 1/4... I can never find pants that fit right. Old navy and the Gap have short sizes (still a little long on me)... Or I buy their ankle length and they fit perfectly. Thumbsup

This is so true! I'm 5'2" and this has happened to me many times. It's gotten to the point where I don't even need to take the pants off the rack anymore: I walk up to them and see that they are skimming the ground yet come up to my collarbone-- yeah, not going to happen.

Oh, fashion peeves. I have a bunch actually... hmmm

The first - ultra-low cut jeans that make the butt-crack show when someone squats or bends down. A couple years back I was supervising a college chemistry lab and a group of students was sitting all in a row taking measurements on these high stool where you had to lean forward to look in the instrument. And they were all "peddling their crack" in a row like that! Speechless Both boys and girls. I wish I had a camera so I could show them how stupid they looked lined up like that!

Also - the people that were complaining about too-long jeans won't relate, but I'm 5'9" so I have the opposite problem.

And finally - that hardly anything ever fits my figure well... Cry I have a really small waist, large shoulders, and probably average rest, and NOTHING fits. Too tight in the chest and hips, too loose around the stomach. Well, what can you do. I guess I have to learn to make my own clothes.

Low rise jeans & pants can be good, just as long as they're the moderate ones. These are the ones that hit just below the navel. I'm 5'4" & have not had a problem finding jeans. I get the Favorite Flare from American Eagle. Finding dress pants is a little more difficult, but I have found some good pairs from The Ltd. Usually what The Ltd. likes to do is just put the size on the tag & not the pant length. When they do that, it is to be inferred that it is regular length. I have gotten a couple of petite pairs in the Cassidy fit (moderate low rise). I tried the Drew fit (more of a low rise) & it made my hips look too big. I also wear 3 in. heels w/ everything, so it makes my pants less likely to drag on the ground.

I hate to see good accessories with a laundry day outfit.
I see women all the time walking around wearing hot shoes, a cute purse, and great jewelery ... with their gym clothes. Like yoga pants, a too-sheer ribbed tank, and their sports bra sticking out.
I'm all for looking bummy sometimes and looking great other times, but you can't have it both ways at the same time. Roll Eyes

Ciao!

You guy's ain't seen nothing yet.
Eeker

I saw a pregnant LALALA working at VSB sporting a visible navel ring. Her stomach was 'out there'.

I will not even tell you about the worst thing I've seen in public.

Since no one explained what a 'muffster' is, I will try.
smoker

They used to be called 'Preppies or Yuppies' in the 1980s.
Women (and men) who held high paying positions and had a 'dress code' of sorts. The women wore stuff like pearls, business suits, Cartier tank watches, etc. Also carried a 'Filofax' which has since been superceded by a PDA and then a Crackberry phone.

In the millenia, an era of 'reduced expectations' I call 'em 'muffsters' (short for Muffies). They drive Jeeps, wear Burberry rain coats and accessories, talk on cell phones, and have a sense of 'entitlement'.

Perhaps Megan can give further insight into this species as she gave an EXCELLENT explanation of 'Grilles'. There are females who wear 'grilles' also, which is even more scary.

Megan can probably elucidate more on what they wear these days as 'Muffsters' are usually in their 20s.

The males are now called 'Metros'.

All I know about 'Muffsters' is how to spot 'em.

I am 5' 7" tall, am thin and I have LONG legs. If the length fits me then the waist is HUGE, opposite if I find the waist fit. I like 3/4 length sleeves on my tops too, because I have skinny arms. I love shopping for clothes, but I HATE shopping for clothes if you know what I mean.

Since I am small, everyone is right about the top sizes! If I can't fit into a large top than there is something wrong here! Mad If I happen to find a great top, the length is not long enough unless you wash it by hand so it doesn't shrink.
When I was 16 I didn't want to show my navel and I certainly don't want to start now.

Oh, have to share a fashion disaster I seen yesterday! Eeker This girl who must have been about 14-16 (who can tell anymore? Roll Eyes)
had on a pair of shorts that were very "short" and a pair of (all I can think of to describe these, are "frankenstein boots) and those black boots had at least a heel height of 6 "thick" inches" from toe to heel. She couldn't even walk in them. Everyone was doing a double take. Crazy But maybe she thought she looked "cute". slapface
